ENVE Melee - Dream Bike Build
ENVE is a brand that has become synonymous with performance design and quality. Often found on drool worthy dream bikes, be that from the wind cheating wheelsets, to the sleek cockpits and finishing kit. After launching the Custom Road a few years ago, the brands first venture into complete bikes, ENVE is now offering the Melee, a modern take on the ultimate road bike alongside an all-road and gravel option in the Fray and MOG respectively.
We are thrilled to be stocking ENVE bikes and products. Here's a run down of the Melee we've just built up!
While we're used to seeing three distinct categories within roads bikes, aero, lightweight and endurance. In recent years, there has been a shift with some brands aiming to deliver the sweet spot of all three for the ultimate all round package. Using ENVE’s Real-World Fast™ design philosophy the Melee is cut out for anything you can throw at it. Aero optimised, lightweight, responsive and boasting clearance for 35mm tyres and full mud guard mounts, this bike is setting the standard for a modern road bike.
Based on a chassis, including frame, fork, headset, seatpost, bar and stem, choice of sizes of all components is available to achieve the perfect fit. Adding the choice of the both ENVE SES and Foundation wheelsets and a few different handlebar options, including both one and two piece, means you can tailor the Melee to suit your exact needs. Available in three different colourways, do get in contact to spec up your dream build!
Frame:
54cm ENVE Melee in Damascus Grey.
Wheels:
ENVE SES 4.5
The 4.5 sit in the middle of ENVEs SES line up when it comes to depth. They have an asymmetric rim profile front to rear at 50mm and 56mm deep. More aero that the 3.4 but more stable and responsive than the 6.7, the 4.5 sit in that nice middle ground, especially for the roads we have locally. Boasting a 25mm internal rim width to be optimised for wider tyres. We set this one up with a set of Vittoria Corsa Pro 28mm tyres.
Cockpit:
110mm ENVE Aero stem and 37/42 flared ENVE Aero bar, keeps the cables all neatly out of sight for an adjustable and integrated set up. Finished off with the ENVE x K Edge integrated computer mount, keeps the bars clear and clean.
Groupset:
Shimano Dura-Ace Di2, the best groupset available in a lot of peoples mind. While the debate of the Shimano vs Sram vs Campagnolo will go on for the rest of time, we felt that the glossy black of the Dura-Ace and the overall aesthetic matched the Melee perfectly. Not to mention its super crisp electronic shifting and braking performance, Shimano really have hit the nail on the head with the latest Dura-Ace groupset.
Equipped with a compact 50/34 chainset and a 12 speed 11-30t cassette, this bike has a good range of gears for any terrain.
Saddle:
A 3D Printed Selle Italia SLR Boost with Titanium rails is perched on top of the ENVE seatpost. This is a saddle that we have had a lot of success with and a lot of the staff ride on our own bikes. It comes in a range of both sizes and materials, from more budget friendly options with metal rails all the way to full carbon 3D printed options. This 3D printed upper being one of the most exciting advancements in saddle technology in recent years, allowing a superlight more comfortable upper.
