Hidden Gems: Richard’s Favourite Richmond Routes
While the days may be getting shorter and summer warmth is fading, there's no reason to stow away your bike! If you’re looking for routes to enjoy this autumn, you’ve come to the right place. As a shop full of cyclists, we’ve done plenty of miles in, around and beyond Richmond between us, so we thought we’d share some of our favourite routes.
We had a chat with Richard to find out some of his go-to routes, both on- and off-road! Keep on reading to explore the routes.
Road
Into The Surrey Hills
This route ventures out of London and navigates down to the Surrey Hills, taking in some iconic and lesser-known climbs. Offering a challenging but rewarding day in the saddle, while it isn’t one for the faint of heart, take it at your own pace and enjoy a café stop (or two!) along the way, and most riders will be more than capable of completing it.
A Taste Of The North Downs
For those seeking a slightly tamer route, this option offers a more manageable challenge while still allowing you to take in the beauty of the Surrey Hills. Ideal for those with time constraints or just fancy a less demanding ride, this is one we keep coming back to.
Gravel
Close To Home
Looking for a leisurely yet adventurous off-road experience a stone’s throw from our store? This short but fun ride takes you through Richmond Park, Wimbledon Common, and Kew, all within easy reach. Cap off your ride with a well-earned pint on the river bank – what more could you want?
Run For The Hills
Designed with gravel in mind, this route seeks to avoid tarmac wherever possible. Taking you on an alternative adventure through the Surrey Hills, this is a big day out that is guaranteed to make the legs burn! Tackling formidable climbs like Leith Hill, it’s a tough but fun day out, just make sure you pack plenty of snacks!
